Well, some are more brownish, some are more reddish, and others may have a beige ground color, but I believe that they all start out as deep red babies and then fade into whatever adult coloration they will turn out to be (probably passed down from the parents). The picture you posted and the ones I posted are actually of the very same snake. The one you posted is my male as a hatchling, and the ones I posted as a four year old animal (as I mentioned in the post).
There is however one color phase (some think it may be its own species?), that is entirely red even into adulthood without any markings.
The northern populations have reduced markings that look more like remnants of the southern populations' markings (mostly speckles).
