These cuties first pipped on Saturday morning. After a few hours, one had emerged completely but I left him in the incubation container. By late afternoon, I checked to see if the second one had emerged. To my horror, the first ridleyi was missing. I poked my finger all through the vermiculite, thinking it had just burrowed itself. Nope. Then I removed all the other incubation containers from my Hovabator to see if it was crawling around somewhere. Nope. Then I went through all of the other containers to see if it had crawled in with another batch of eggs. Nope. I was pretty panicked by this point, but I swear there is no way out of a Hovabator, so where could it be? Finally, I found him. He had crawed back inside his egg and was fully invisible.
Here is the second hatchling. You can see a stripe on the first one back inside its egg. I cut a larger hole in the egg so that I could see him, and hopefully encourage him to come back out.

There is that smile I know and love!
