The difference? Oh, I'd say that the main difference is that the Texas Rat snake is made from Leu. Texas rat snake parents and the Black Rat snake is made from Black Rat X Leu Texas Rat snake ancestors....LOL.
The Leu. Black Rats have historically been from man-made hybrids/intergrades (e.g., what I so lovingly refer to as useless mutts), while Texas Rats were originally a pure morph. Because of this, The Leu. "Black Rats" tend to be uglier as hets that either a Black Rat or a Texas rat (but should get more black rat-ish with each generation from the cross), but they are typically more docile than the pure Texas rats....ALTHOUGH we'vew bred EXTREMELY docile lines of Leu. Texas rats in the past.
Overall, stick to the Texas Rats in my opinion!
