This snake first appeared over two years ago. In that time the story has gotten confused over whether it came from Kansas or Arkansas, but I heard the story about someone catching it behind their couch from two different sources. I tried to get a pic of this snake for my chapter but all of the slides that Don sent were too blurry to use. He did have a very nice clear picture of this snake on his WEB site a few years ago that someone else took and it looked like a pure emoryi. From my first viewing, I never had the impression that this snake was an obsoleta. The color of the snake has seemed to darken considerably since then. It used to be brown with black blotches, but not like a juvenile obsoleta, and I've seen plenty of those in KY.
I can't vouch for the original seller of this snake, but I can say that Don fully believes in what he purchased and is not trying to rip anyone off. Time and $4000 will tell.
P.S. I have no vested interest in the validity of this snake, this is just what I saw and know.
