will probably retain his colors. He is turning a more of a golden/brown color and his blotches are a dark brown. Although his tail is turning really dark, I think he will keep his pattern. The red has just started to show up with the last couple of sheds. Pretty cool how these guys go through such a varied color change. I know when I caught him he was charcoal grey with dark gray, almost black blotches.

: I have seen red on a number of Ky black rats, but I wouldn't say it was typical. Many show a lot of yellow, and I have seen some with a greenish cast.Some people prefer the solid black specimens, but I have to admit my favorites are the typical Ky obseleta that shows quite a bit of pattern all through their lives.
