Terry, these TX rats are almost literally everywhere around here(Austin). If you want a pair or more, it would be pretty easy to collect them. Of course, tons of folk breed them too.
I've seen some in town that are absent of yellow but have light ground colors, some that are almost completely dark grey, and some that have the bright yellows and reds between the scales. All phases are living in the same area, and I believe that Travis G. caught an orange one not too far away.
I'm not so partial to bitey snakes, and every one I catch tries. But I do find them to be beauties. One of my favorites, in fact.
