It's just a threat display (so it does mean they're pissed). Lots of my colubrids do this on and off. My adult black rat did it once because I startled him. My kingnsnake does it if you try to pull her out of her hide too fast. My mandarin rat does it if you look at him funny, and my taiwan beauty never does it. They seem to do it more when they're in shed because they feel more vulnerable, I guess. Just be cautious because a bite is likely to follow.
: Something really weird happen today. After feeding my 8 month old Texas ratsnake I came back to check on it as I usually do and it stared at me as usual, but this time it started to wiggle it's tail as if it were a rattlesnake. This went on for a few hours.
: Was it pissed? I've never seen it do that before.
