I made one error in my post below, the Melanistic was caught in '98. This will be, (fingers crossed) the first year to breed him. I took my time growing him, although he helped. He was a very finiky feeder the first year. I am confident, along with others that have seen him, that his coloration will turn out to be a simple resesive trait. So, there are still about 3 years to go in this project to prove it out. It is exciting!

I am aware of 3 Hypo lines; one previously owned by Troy Wilstead of TNT snakes, (which happens to be the line currently available on the market) Don Sodderberg also has a Hypo line which is different in appearence to TNTs. There also is another line that is owned by a gentlemen in CA, from with the original snake being WC many years ago.

I do not know much about the Soddersberg line. I believe Don picked them up from another breeder, but he my have produced them himself. From what I have heard, the coloration, and belly patterning is different from the other lines though.

TNTs line came from 2 normal adults that were bred and produced a few Hypos in thier first clutch. The founding adults were bred back to they Hypo babies thus proving the trait when more Hypos were produced.

The third line came from a WC adult male that was also caught in KS in the early '90s. I've been told this male did breed several years and the trait was proven. The founding male has died as far as I know. One interesting thing that could actually disprove 3 lines, is that TNTs founding stock came from WA, and this WC line was from CA. Both lines are identical in apperance. Could the normal adults that produced TNTs line have been hets from the other line? I feel there is a very good chance, but we'll probably never know.

On your next trip out to AZ, maybe we could hook up and talk shop. If I still have the Emoryi,( which I really want to sell!!) you can have a peek at them.

Don
