Have you as many reasons FOR releasing it?
It will probably be outcompeted in any area you release it in now, or die of shock from the inhospitable temps, or be quickly caught and eaten by the first raccoon or cat that sees it since its not used to predation. I'd keep it or give it to someone who will.
Of course, be sure its clean of disease, etc. before letting it share your hands with other pets.
