Dear Thane,
Although these are classified as ratsnakes, frogs or chicks are their preferred prey. I've not seen them constrict their prey. Instead, the prey is seized with their jaws and pinned against another object or swallowed outright.
These are terrestrial diurnal snakes which can grow pretty large, especially ptyas carinatus with a recorded length of 12ft+. Incidentally, the carinatus can be tamed to the point of freehandling as they aren't very aggresive. Just use gloves as their teeth aren't as long as, say, gonyyosoma. Other than having to feed them frogs, there's nothing much difficult about keeping them.
Good luck!
Francis
: Does anyone out there have info. pics. experience etc. keeping Ptyas mucosa and or other ptyas species. Thanks in advance.
