Baby Black Racer

I caught a baby black racer about 1 week ago. So far it has refused frozen/thawed pinkies and crickets. When I attempted to feed him he struck at the food but I think it was out of self defense. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to get him to eat or what to try and feed him. I was thinking of trying baby frogs/toads, or a live pinky.
