need help with wild black racer

We live in Tennessee near the Kentucky line. There is a very large wild black racer on our property who hunts near our house. Lately he's become a problem. Puppies and kittens have disappeared from the front porch. Today my wife could not get to her car, parked in the driveway, because of him. And so, my wife has put her foot down: Reptilicus must go.

I hate to kill such a magnificent snake. If I were to capture him and take him several miles away, would he stay gone? How could I capture him? Transport him? Where should I take him?
