: I was planning to ptu em on papertowels for a while first, just so that I can monitor for mites. But will put em on aspen after a week or so. btw, why are baby racers diffcult to establish? Issit cos they're nervous, or they require different prey to get them going? Thanks again.
I once hatched some racer eggs that I found under a board but couldn't figure out what to feed the babies. However, a couple of years ago, a guy near me got some baby racers from eastern Iowa. He got them going on the big olive locusts that are common here in the end of summer. Other grasshoppers or crickets might do, too. Anyway, I'd expect using any kind of grasshopper or cricket would require a calcium/vitamin supplement and gut loading the prey. Good luck.
