Like Dan said, he probably didn't shed his eye cap. Try rubbing a small amount of mineral oil onto the unshed caps. Wait a few hours. Take your thumb or finger and gently rub the unshed cap. Rubbing from the back of the eye forward seems to work best. Once the caps become loose, you can ease them off with forceps. - Paul
