Hi Phil -
Im presently using a 6-foot Vision cage to house a 6-1/2 foot blood python thats pushing 40 pounds. If I had more 6-foot Visions available, Id utilize them for smaller bloods, as well. I also use 24, 36, 48 and 54 Visions for blood pythons. I really like the extra floor area you get with the 54 x 36 and 72 x 36 floor sizes. I heat the 6-foot Vision with a 100-watt Pro Products heat panel at one end controlled by a Big Apple proportional thermostat. The ambient temperature in the room rarely goes below 75 degrees F. The temperatures on the cage floor range from 79 at one end to 89 degrees at the other. Most of my blood pythons seek to maintain 82-83 degrees unless they are gravid or digesting a meal.
The oft-noted propensity of these usually lethargic snakes to rest in constricted spaces for lengthy periods does not mean that their hide space must equal their entire living space. I offer all my pythons appropriately sized hide containers within their cages. The female described above uses a 3-foot long plastic container marketed as an under the bed blanket box, but she frequently stretches out full length in her cage, particularly after feeding.
:Hi, is there anyone here that uses the 6' vision enclosures to house adult bloods? If so, how do you set them up for heat?..Thanks, Phil..
