::PetHobbyist.com received this note from a USA Today reporter and we wanted to pass it along to you:
::
::For the house/home page of a national newspaper, I hope to interview people who have done construction or made big changes to their homes/yards to accommodate their pets -- especially reptiles, ferrets, rabbits, birds and other out-of-the-ordinary pets. Please contact me at JoyceCCohen@aol.com with a brief note about your house-pet situation plus contact information. Thanks!

:Folks,

:Given the FACT that the media,newstations are basically controlled by *Corporate interests*, I feel that anyone that takes what they see on the news as truth verbatim is either a)A fool, or b)uninformed and ignorant of these facts.

:Having said that, and knowing full well that what big corporations dont want televised often ISNT telivised,I would have say that offering up an interview with a reporter on a touchy subject leaves one *Completely vulnerable* to be misquoted or taken out of context, or perhaps, wors, ignored and left on the drawing room floor.

:Again...if you beleive that what is being FED YOU by corporate media is the truth, then perhaps I should leave you alone in your comfortable, soft and fluffy world. The REAL world is replete with lies and manipulation of the masses. Just look at what is going on right NOW in this world.

:Sincerely,

At many local area reptile shows,I have been photographed holding a snake(Usually an Eastern Indigo) as I tried to explain about the snakes captive maintenance, breeding etc to a potential customer. The results of this exposure varied. sometimes they were positive and led more people to attend subsequent shows and to be aware that keeping reptiles is now not so much out of the "mainstream"..........

On the OTHER hand..I have had NEWSCASTER *GRIMACE* while reporting the story, exhale sharply, and make a general overall childish fuss as to why anyone would want a pet like this.
They took a good opportunity and ruined it entirely and instead of just REPORTING ther news(Their job) they instead chose to INFLAME a public fear and misperception of these beautifull animals AND their keepers, reinofrcing EVERY sterotype available.

So...in closeing, in MY opinion...I wouldnt knowingly bring my reptiles before another reporter, I dont feel like wondering if I am going to get a honest sensitive reporter or a person that wil use their own fear to inflame the fear allready inherent in others in society. I agree with Yasser.

Sincerely,

AZTEC FRED
