In Reply to: I've had interviews.... posted by KJUN on February 21, 2003 at 07:32:01:
My views are my opinion and if I dislike a group based on my experiences, how is that bias?
You and I share alot in common...our views on guns and our "devils advocate" nature. If I ruined your day...I apologize. It was difficult to gauge your feelings in your words but I mean no offense to you. This is merely a good topic to argue so let's do so.
And for the record, the only insulting thing I said about the media is that they are basically not always truthful...that is fact. Then otherwise, the only other comment I made that could be insulting was "screw the media". It could be an insult but it is how I feel and like gun rights, I don't think my right to state my opinion should be taken away.

:I've had interviews where they made it sounds worse, better, and just so-so as compared to the truth. Face it: the media no longer reports news, they make it. If you buy a newspaper to read, if you watch the news channels, YOU are BUYING their product. Don't blame them for commercializing something you buy when it is commercialized.
:Look, I'm so pro-gun that I think it should illegal for an American to NOT own a gun. That's the truth. With our biased media, do you think I have any love for them at all? I don't have even a little bit of a like for the media... and I don't buy or watch their products either. I stand behind what I believe. Do you?
But you made a good point...the media will do what they want....so I will have no part of it.
Back to the bombshelter to read my 1930's paper.
:Now that I've made a silly aggressive reply to your silly aggressive pseudo-attack on me, lety's drop that and get to the truth about this. If you accused ME of doing something bad to you, I'd do it just to prove a point. NOT ALL reporters are bad. Too many are and the media in general is biased... to sell a product. However, if you want to sterotype, be prejudice, and close-minded to individual people, go ahead. Live in the 1930s....lol.
:The point is, I was playing the Devil's Advocate. You don't really seem to know what that term means. Although I agree with you, I'll give them a chance. Here's something you need to learn: the media will report what they want no matter what you do. The better of a JOB you do as the one getting interviewed, the worse of a job they can do making you look bad. Treat them horribly and they can make you look worse than you can imagine. Again, individuals are just that and you need to judge them as an idiviidual and not as a group before insulting them that harshly.
:Trust me, I learned out the hard way. I'm misqouted more than I am quoted correctly in context, BUT the better of a job I do, they worse they can mess it up (intentionally or unintwentionally). I found out the hard way....lol. Bad reporting and bad interviewers can work in a very symbiotic way to produce a horrible report.
:Dang, I never thought I'd be in a position where I felt the desire to defend an individual report...... I feel VERY dirty.....lol. You've done ruined my day. Next, you'll have me defending an ... gasp...Engineer! Oh, the horror!
