I talked to a turtle breeder at a reptile show and he said it could be genetic? Does anyone else think this may be the case?

I'm going to try to look at other turtles from this area and see if I can find any similar. But since I live in Wisconsin, it will be several more months before I can begin this research. :)

thanks,
Joel Fish

::I'm very happy to see a painted turtle forum!

::I have a 2" painted turtle that came from the wild. I've had him for several months and he seems to be doing great.

::His shell is 'turned up' at the edges in back instead of the normal dome shape. Is this a sign of anything or something to be concerned about?

:Typically it is due to a diet too high in protein, but since you you found it that way, offhand I would not worry overly much about it. It won't affect it's health in the long run and there is a slight possibility that the shell will correct itself as it grows larger.
