I have raised painted hatchlings...

Yeh it looks like a midland, but for sure a paint. Like the others said a 10gal will last about a year, if that. You will eventually need at least a 55gal or a small pond. The water can be as deep as you can make it as long as you have a shallower resting spot with a basking area. The basking temp should be in the upper 80's or lower 90's. The water temp needs to be around 78, so you might need a submerisble water heater. For food, I would feed him crickets and some small fish. You can gradually get him on pellets but that should not be the only food it gets. Also make sure you have UVB lighting. I reccomend Repti-Sun 5.0. They are flourecent lights. Hope this helps...
