What ype of turtle is that? Is that a hatchling painted. I have never seen hatchlings... just sub-adults and adults.

:Actually I would not add a heater for any temperate turtle maintained indoors. Typical room temperature is 68 degrees F (20 degrees C) or more and that compares favorable with water temperature of most lakes and rivers.

:The important thing is that the basking area must reach 95 degrees or so (35 degrees C) so they can warm themselves up enough to metabolize properly.
