: Today I went to Washington Lake park looking for snakes and I caught 2 n.water snakes and 1 spoted turtle, and then I relesed it, I'm not sure but are they indagered? I also caught one a few years ago in the same spot.

Hi. Great find! The spotted turtles are a species of special concern in NJ which means either not enough is known about it in NJ or that the species might become threatened (different from endangered as NJ sees it) if more isn't done to protect it here. Hope this helped.
