I'm interested in hearing about what it took for your friend to get her non-profit org. set up.

In regards to the cost, I was quoting from the information I posted previously. The cost of setting up a non-profit org. varies from state to state. Perhaps IL is cheaper than some other states.

If you are interested in using your friend's organization as an umbrella and getting this information from her, would you be interested in starting the non-profit process for NIAD in IL?

I'd like to hear imput from other states and volunteers, but I really would rather we just start with one state and go federal. Honestly, CA has a lot of volunteers on the list for our state, but no one here is willing to put in the amount of time involved in setting up nonprofit status here; I have a hard enough time getting people to even respond to my email, much less do real research. If I wasn't already the state coordinator with things to do in that area, I might have the time to seriously look into it, but the amount of time I can devote to this project is limited at this point. In addition, fund raising for the $300-??
amount of money required to get CA nonprofit status is not really in the picture now, either.

Maybe it's just CA, but I get the feeling that a lot of states don't have the time or manpower for each one to file for its own non-profit status.
