Pond renovations

I have a back yard pond, it is currently being renovated, I have what I think are firebelly newts, about 20 so far, I've gathered them up and placed them into a smaller pond. They have been living in an open habitat, and I have no idea if they started out as pets or just found a nice damp place and decided it looked like a good place to set up house.

What I need to know now is, do I need to feed them or will they have enough in the new pond? What will I need to feed them if they don't ahve enough? They obiviously are used to fending for themselves, so will they eat what is already in the water? Like misquito larvea, waterbugs, and whatever spiders and other bugs fall into the water? Or do they need something else and if they do, what? They eat live things, right? so can I just dig up worms and toss them in? I'm clueless here, I never intended to have these little guys, but now that I do, I don't want to kill them.

Thanks for your help.
Claudette
