i set up my newt tank. a 10 gallon tank with 5 gallons of water in it. have two small danios to cycle it. used a used-filter from my established tank (same size cartridge! lucky me!) to seed to tank. i have 3 live plants. how soon is it safe to add newts?

one more thing, the danios are going to go in a 55 gal (i have to pick it up in two weeks, bought it off ebay), but right now, they have no home. is it ok for them to live with the newt for this short period of time? i've read a lot of mixing species articals and discuessions, so i'm not keeping fish in there permeantly. i just have no place to put those two for a few weeks! my 5 gal tank is already over-stocked. :(
