: you should listen to Matt, he is telling the truth. Once i put my eastern newt in the tank with my turle, and when i was looking at the turtle the turtle gabbed the newt by the tail and bit it off. shortly after the newt died.

I'd just like to add that even if the turtles are small toxins may be harmful too. If the newts are from a different country than the turtles then either could be vulnerable to certain diseases.
