The orders Caudata and Urodela are the same thing. Basically, it appears that Urodela is the name mostly used in Europe still, Caudata in the US/Canada.
I believe the family Rhyacotritonidae was officially recognized in 1992. Before that, they had been placed in Dicamptodontidae and Ambystomatidae. Here's some good taxonomic details:
http://tolweb.org/tree/eukaryotes/animals/chordata/caudata/rhyacotritonidae.html
And here's some good Natural History details on each of the four species:
http://elib.cs.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/amphib_query?rel-genus=like&upper-genus=1&upper-species=1&upper-common_name=1&rel-species=like&rel-common_name=like&rel-family=equals&rel-order=equals&rel-isocc=like&max=20&where-genus=Rhyacotriton&where-species=&where-common_name=&where-family=any&where-order=any&where-isocc=any
Also, as far as I can tell, all 4 species are protected in CA, OR, and WA and are illegal to collect without a scientific permit.
