sorry i'm so late! i'd have to say expert handling. this snake was NOT nice, which is typical! he/she left a good mark on my palm below my thumb and the only reason it got me was i didn't pick it up behind the head. this snake was pretty stout and would flatten its entire body. definitely a true Nerodia!
