I give my snakes a bath in warm (tepid) water with a few drops of dish soap (dove, sunlight etc, just ask Madge). The soap breaks water tension and drowns mites FAST! First time I did this, too much soap, snake blew bubbles for a while but I just give them a fresh water bath following the first.
Following this, I use Vapona strip pieces in perforated pill bottles in and/or on the terrarium. We're advised to introduce this poison for only a few hours at a time over 24 hour periods (especially at close proximity to the snakes).
In fact, I have not seen mites following the bath, however I still use the strips to ensure irradication.
Sterilize tank before re-introducing snake.
