I have a thermometer near the top of the tank, which is probably not a good spot for it, because it saids it's 75 degrees in there without any heat lamps) and she is on the otherside of the tank underneath her waterbowl (cat box). She likes to flatten herself out and get under it. I can only think of one way to make it cooler in there, although when I check on her every couple weeks she is very cool. So I imagine she is fine...
:If snakes refuse food during the winter months, they should typically be cooled to around 55 F to slow down their metabolism and prevent weight loss. It's probably ok that your snake is not basking. The cage might be warm enough that he might not need to. As long as he's eating and active, I wouldn't worry.
