I use either dense carboard or rigid plastic hides (strong and flat). On the cool side I place their water container on top of that hide. This works great (mostly)- my water containers are clear and seeing the fish and figuring out how to get at them can take the guys a few minutes. Oh, I keep the hides low, just over their backs. I use this method where floor space is a at premium.
