If you lizard is too cold it will tend to stay in the hotter part of the tank/cage and if it is too hot you monitor will tend to stay in the colder areas of the tank/cage. You should put a thermometer in the tank and get both reading on the high/low temps of the cage. As long as your reptile is moving from under the heat source it is thermoregulating. As of signs that its not, there really is no signs. But if your lizard feels stressed b/c its too hot or cold in the tank, it may not eat, etc. Otherwise, just enjoy your reptile.
