I was at Petco one day when some guy brought in the most awful looking leo I have ever seen. She was so weak and thin, she could hardly open her eyes-her skull bone, spine, and hip bones were jutting out and she would lose her bowels if you tried to pick her up. The reason she was in such sad condition was all the owner's fault-he had been feeding her vegetables and fruits for seven months! The moron never even bought a book on Leopard Geckos, and just watched the poor thing waste away. So this is what a leopard gecko that hasn't eaten in 7 months looks like:

Sorry the picture quality is so terrible-I didn't have a digital camera at the time and was using a disposable camera-I obviously took a picture of the picture to show you guys.
So I took this little sweetheart home and named her Lucky-Petco was happy to not have to deal with her. I immediately took her to the reptile vet and she was given a calcium shot for her MBD and an antibiotic. I was instructed not to feed her anything solid until she was completely rehydrated. Her fecals came out clear and negative for crypto. Then I contacted the real genius here, Trace Willis. She helped me through Lucky's ordeal and I swear that gecko would not have made it without Trace's sound advice. After MONTHS of Ensure Plus, Pedialyte, vet visits, force-feeding, and this was the worst, BLENDED INSECTS (I bought a cheap blender and liquified crickets, mealworms, and waxworms-YUCK!!!), little Lucky looks like this today:

It only took 6 months to get her well and back on track. And I have one of the fiestiest, most ungrateful leos ever! LOL!!! She's a biter-maybe because she remebers the force-feeding. Hee hee . . . but I love her more than anything-she is living proof that our leos have a ton of courage and life in them.
