Why take the chance? In my opinion, there is a small chance, however unlikely, that sand can cause an impaction in either of my geckos. So, as a responsible choice, if I can totally eliminate the threat by using another substance (in most cases paper towels), then it is a logical thing to do. If you were talking to a new mother, and you told her she had a choice between a slight risk to her child's health, and zero risk, what choice will she make? Think about it. Thank you.
