One of my Male Leopard geckos Orion has been impacted on sand. He got very impacted, took servel vet visits and alot of care to get him recovered. Never found out why he started to eat the sand, he must have just developed a taste for it. Needless to say not a very nice experence, and would not want it repeated.

Hes doing great now, 75 grams wow, and now is one paper towels, i may try slate at some point, but i will never use any kind of loose substrate with my leos. Its just to risky.
