Why in the world should we not use subspecies as it relates to these animals? If we intend to maintain a dialogue with the agencies of Federal and State governments who will regulate these animals, we need to speak the same language.

Therein find a proposed listing for a subspecies which, according to the proposal and range limitations could just as easily have been proposed using geographical designations rather than subspecies. Note also, the organization making the proposal, and proposal date.
