Alligators

I just have a situation to pose. THis is for anyone familiar with Florida Herp laws. If a person percieves they are threatened by an alligator, can they legally kill the animal. I thought the answer was no, but a person today tried to argue the opposite. I thought they would have to get away and call a licensed Nuissance trapper.
