If it's a baby- it won't even be able to break the skin. I doubt you'd have a mark to show the doctor. Be careful though, if you pull away too fast, you can really hurt the little critter. Tiny little bones and teeth can get broken...
They can put on quite a display, and it works to drive off some of the predators that want to eat them.
You might want to try lightly draping the snake's head with thin fabric or a paper towel (I always have them laying around the snake room) before you reach in. My snakes usually calm down somewhat once their heads are covered and I can lift them out with no problem. This might also help you so you won't be worried about the snake actually tagging you, since they'll be a visual barrier between the snake and your hand.
