Hey! Your story is really sad. I'm sorry you had to give up your little guy. I actually just bought a baby kingsnake. I didn't even ask my parents (but then again I'm in college). My mom kind of freaked out at first, but after seeing how cute he was, she came around. I wouldn't give up totally on owning another snake. And don't be so hard on yourself. You didn't fail. My baby king still rattles at me and strikes sometimes when I approach his cage, but he's fine once I put my hand in there. The snake was probably just scared. If your parents wouldn't let you hold him, then there's nothing you could have really done to tame him. You can try talking to them about snakes again, and if that doesn't work, just wait until you get into college or something and then buy one. But don't give up, yet. =) Hope all goes well!
