On Easter our female kingsnake laid 8 eggs. So far none of them seem rotten or anything, though i'm pessimistic. In fact, they smell like peppermint. anyone else think kingsnake eggs smell like peppermint?

Anyway, the male king, in the cage right next to the female, has been super restless ever since she laid her eggs. She's deep in her post-lay shed at the moment, but he's going nuts. I've gotten him to eat a mouse or fuzzy here or there, but mostly he has no appetite for food, just keeps wanting the female I guess. Anyway, this evening I went to clean the water dish, and I guesss I must have started him, because he started slithering backwards, rattling his tail, and even emitted (musked?) a white milky substance all over the side of the cage. Normal behavior? Just curious. The female didn't lose very much weight. Since he's going bonkers, should I put him back with her once she's had her shed? This is her first year breeding, and I don't want to tax her.
