what about breeds of lampropeltas snakes outside of getula? can that even be done? im aware that with some size differences make it impossible, but has anyone ever attempted this with 2 simalrly sized snakes from two different branches of lampropeltas? if so this could make for som,e interesting and beautiful crosses...and would make solving my dilema far easier (and more open to creativity) although your advice has already helped alot.
thx again.
:To answer your question, yes it is definitely possible for Lampropeltis getulus holbrooki to breed with other subspecies of the Lampropeltis getulus group. It happens all the time in the wild, with speckled kings and chain kings, etc. These are essentially geographic races of the same species. The ranges overlap widely in many places, so intergrades between subspecies are fairly common. It is possible to find intergrades in the wild between L.g. holbrooki and L.g.getulus, L.g. splendida, and L.g. niger. In fact, the intergradient zone between L.g.holbrooki and L.g. splendida is one of the biggest intergradient zones I know of for any species.
