i use aspen, carefrsh, newspaper, repti bark, cypress mulch and carpet for my king but the best ui have used is lizard litter. this stuff if awesome. as far as the mites go you might want to go ahead and start treating your snake for mites. if you buy cypress mulch from wal mart or home depot or somewhere like that, you can go to the camping section of wal mart and get sawyers tick spray, same as black night and spray a puff or two into the bag and this will kill all the mites. another good thing to take the mites off of the snake is de flea reptile relief this stuff works great.
