I just adopted a red-eared slider off of a family we know that wasn't taking very good care of it. Well, the turtle probably never had as much water as I gave him in his new set-up in his entire life. So, when he went in the water and realized how deep it was he panicked for a few seconds and splashed water all around lol. He calmed down after a few seconds and started swimming slowly and exploring his cage. Alright, see-ya later.
