you can legally own any of the indigo species you'd like to, the eastern indigo in florida requires two different permits. one from the dept. of interior for transporting a federally protected species across state lines and the other from the florida game and freshwater fish commision for having a state protected species in captivity. they are both a bit of a hassle to get and take several months sometimes for processing.
