Interesting post Dean, yours is the first case Iv'e heard (& I've tracked a goodly number...)of where a Clelia attempted to bite. They are widely reported as docile beyond belief, even big buggers wrestled in the bush, late at night...yours is also the first report of piciverous behavior! I cant help but wonder if maybe you actually got one of the mexican black indigos in your grab-bag???? Any chance an old photo might still be around?

:We're talkin like 82 here, it came in a bag full of imported stuff from South America & was sold to me as a Central American Indigo :-( Silly me bein young, foolish & naieve just handed over my $. It was a nice but high strung snake, tried to rip my nose off on a couple of occasions, but settled downafter I had it for a couple months, it did eat mice eventually but prefered day old chicks & would NEVER turn up it's nose @ fish OR the occasional Garter snake I'd catch for it.

:Don't know if I'd ever want another, especially now that I have the 'real deal' with the Indigos but an interesting snake nonetheless. Think I paid like $75 for it, then a couple year after I bought a REAL Central American Indigo / Cribo so then I got a reality check as to the amt. of crap Drys could produce & after ALL those dissapointments finally in 2001 got my 1st Eastern Indigos.................

:Good post Thane, thanx for takin me down memory lane!!!!

:Cheers
:Dean
