In Reply to: An apartment man myself - It's hard to manage cleaning... posted by Big J on October 14, 2002 at 14:16:45:

:all those dry cages all the time, but if I don't the whole place smell like Indigo shiz. I have a walk in closet that I converted into a snake room where I house my drys and False Water Cobras. The womas actually stay in my room and don't really smell. Although I love Indigos, that damn smell makes me think or for that matter gag at different times.

:My 2 cents

Jim,.

WHEN I lived in an apartment, the keeping of Drymarchon was quite a task. One, because of sheer space considerations, you either put the Indigos in the BEDROOM with you (And your spouse if your lucky enough to have one) or you put them in the living room. Either way you will offend SOMEBODY when the snakes take a dump. I remember getting up and cleaning Indigo cages at 3a.m. n the morning just to get rid of the smell in the bedroom and the complaints by my loved one(Oy vey!) In the living room it poses an-entirely different threat, because, you just *KNOW* that as soon as you clean your house, mop the floors, vacum the rugs, pick up the place , cook the meal....as soon as you do all this your visitors will show up, and as soon as they do the Indigos will take a dump...or two, and stink the whole place up to high heaven! Yup yup! One way of getting rid of the in-laws though, or haveing them suggest to your spouse that you should get rid of your snakes!(Happened to me) Additionally, a lot of managers dont like snakes, they have their own prejudices, and just cause you have a great manager now doesnt mean that same person will be doingf the job 2 years from now. In short...renting sucks, especially apartments, but houses too. San Diego is famous for our inflated houseing prices(Welcome to San Diego, Americas Finest Tourist Plantation) wherein about 60-70% of the populace cant even afford to purchase homes, despite working 50 hr weeks and both parents working while kiddies go to babysitters. BUT! we have great climate, mountains, and desert(If you can get a day off of work to enjoy all the friggin amenities! lol)

Thanks for your inout all! Thanks Jim!
