::Yellow tails are really cool snakes and make good pets like any of the Drys, especially if they are captive born. The biggest problem is finding them. They do still come in as imports from South America in limited numbers, but there are some drawbacks to wild-caught specimens.
Yellowtails are occasionally available from importers. I have observed that many of them come in underweight and pretty run down(My opinion only guys). Not being a big fan of imported snakes, I have chosen to pass on them. I applaud the efforts of those here who bought the wild caughts, cleaned them up, and are attempting to breed them. I have seen a few babies up for sale, but..lets face it, I am basically a pretty financially poor guy whose only real monetary asset is the expensive collection of snakes he has amassed, so I cant afford to purchase the yellowtails, one day maybe I will be able to trade for them, any of you reading this that would feel like doing so, PLEASE contact me, I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to do so.
WEll thats all for now, havent posted in a short while, so thought Id throw my two cents in the hat.

::Unlike some of the other Dry’s (unicolor and melanurus) which are much more likely to tame down as imports…import YT’s have a tendency to be downright MEAN.
::In addition…they eat lots of frogs and snakes in the wild, as a result imports are often LOADED with parasites, and they are very nervous as a result can be tough to get feeding.
::With time and patience, you can bring them around, but cb is definitely the way to go with this sub. They are (in my opinion) the largest (on average) sub of Drymarchon…sometimes reaching 10’
::I have a FEMALE that is over 8’. My cb female is as tame as an eastern, and I believe most would be this way if raised from a baby and handled gently.
::The problem is that I know of ONE person (Steve Prinz of Philadelphia) who was fortunate enough to produce any in captivity this year and offer some for sale…(not cheap as you can probably surmise)
::I have 2 females that I HOPE to produce from and get babies next summer…but I will likely hold most of the babies back.
::It’s going to be quite some time before yellowtails are readily available as captive born.
::There are some pics of mine and others in the gallery at www.indigosnakes.com
::Thanks guys for the information on these extremely unique snakes, now that I know about them, these are one of the must have species. The search has begun, Thankyou, Larry
