Fred, I, too agree. Personally, I think it is hard to overfeed young indigos because they are so active (and poop so much!). I basically feed ad lib based on activity levels and time of year.
: : I now have a new E. Indigo about 19". How many mice (hoppers) should I feed him a week and at what intervals. I don't want to run the risk of overfeeding him. Thanks, Jim
: Jim,
: Personally, I would feed the Indigo you described 10-12 hoppers a week, and I would graduate him to small adult mice as soon as he is big enough. Indigos do a lot of their growing in the first 3 years of life, so I would feed him the mice that I mentioned , aas well as smelt(bought at your local grocers store, chicks, and rat pups. In short if you'veonly got one Indigo you can afford to roll out the red carpet and experiment with a wide variety of food items. And I'd offer him Ultraviolet-broad spectrum lighting. Like I said, if you've only got one , why not trick him out??
: Fred
