Dear Keith,
I breed Eastern Indigos and will attempt to answer your questions as well as I possibly can. First off, Indigo snakes have a very fast metabolism, they digest their food very rapidly. Often people ATTEMPT to keep them in cages that are too small, and the end result is that they end up sitting in their own feces for an extended period of time. This is a crime and a tragedy that can be prevented. Indigos have ravenous appetities and if you like watching snakes eat, you won't be dissapointed here. The downside to all of this is that they ae fairly messy, and you should be prepared to clean them everyday, though that is not often necessary. They are very easy to breed, but ii is very difficult to get vianle, ferile eggs from them consistently. This, in addition to the protected and near Endangered status in the wild is why their price remains stable and doesn't drop, there just are simply not a lot of them out there. As for information on them, please go to MY WEBPAGE, it's located on Renegade Reptiles. Rick and Becky Treeney were nice enough to let me post several pages of info there. They DO NOT breed or keep Indigo snakes themselves, so when you see that page it is of my creation and opinions. I posted an 11/2 year old male on the colubrid classified(Red Faced) recently. I still have him so E-Mail me or better yet call me if your interested. Or call just to talk or ask questions. Best of luck.
