Navin did post on the ratsnake forum and I directed him here for further advice. I have found more Spilotes keepers frequent this forum and they are comparitively very knowledgable when it comes to snakes. Also, I feel like Spilotes are probably more closely related to Drymarchon than to the Elaphe clan.
