: Do any of you people out there think it will ever be legal to breed captive Indigos in Florida? Can we lobby to make it happen?
: Wishful thinking in Fl. Buddy.
No, and I for one am glad that they are protected. If granted legal staus in Florida, people will surely go out to "make a quick buck" by capturing them. And they could end up being captured transported and illegally smuggled across state lines like so many other swnakes and animals currently are. The permit process is not all that difficult, and whle I recognize it as an intrusion into our privacy by the govt, it remains a necessary one, I remember seeing a special in National Geographic years ago showing a COLLECTOR(pOACHER) and the spoils of his catch after a day of (sic) hard work. It showed a large wild caught Easter Indigo, it seemed so wrong at the time, and with numbers dwindling even more wrong now. BecaUSE OF THE TEMPTATION TO COLLECT WILD CAUGHT STOCK, MISREPRESENT THEM AND THEIR OFFSPRING, AND DISTRIBUTE THESE SNAKES THROUGHOUT HERPETOCULTURE THEY ARE BETTER OFF WITH THE GUIDELINES IN PLACE(sORRY FOR THE LOUSY SPELLING JOB IT'S LATE AND i'M TIRED)
